Certificate Of Liability Insurance Sample

Employers Liability Insurance is an insurance policy that safeguards employers from liabilities arising due to injury, disease or fatality caused as a result of poor workplace conditions or unconducive practices that are being followed. To ensure safety for people working in an organisation, some jurisdictions have made it compulsory for the employers to buy this insurance.

Acquiring liability insurance will have employers meet the cost of compensation claimed by any employee for a damage sustained to him/her. The employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees while they are at work. To hold liability insurance policy is mandatory for employers because as complies with the law, the employers would be charged a fine if they do not buy it. For them, having an insurance certificate is a must where the names of the company and insurer need to be mentioned along with the level of coverage.

The ones who need not to buy this employers liability insurance policy are people working in government departments, agencies, police authorities, and nationalised industries like health service bodies and primary care trusts. Family-run business where employees are closely related like father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, are also exempted. However, the exemption is not applied to those family businesses that are incorporated as limited companies. Others who are also excluded from this norm are unpaid working students or people who are not employed but are conducting training programs for the benefits of youths and adults.

As an employer, you need to ensure safety at workplace and the first step in this is to have liability insurance policy. To be a good employer, you need to keep every record of your employees that include the strength of the employees working in your company, the task assigned to each employee, and what are their respective incomes. Not only it is mandatory by law but it will also be required at the end of your policy period, where you would need to submit details in your statement. Needless to say, employers liability insurance is an assured way to keep your employees healthy, safe and secured as well as to keep your business running without any obstacle.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
When is a certificate of liability insurance needed?
I have contractors that do physical work on properties we have projects on, labs that we send samples to, rental places that send equipment to us, and other various types of vendors.

Are certificate of liability insurance only needed from those who do work on the properties?

    Sorry, I'm new at this.

    • ANSWER:
No need to apologize. Yes, your contractors should have liability insurance bonds - and so should you. It's part of running a business. One never knows when, if, or why some customer decides to file a lawsuit for whatever reason. If the court decides in their favor if it comes to that, that's when having liability insurance comes into play.

  2. QUESTION:
When do I need a Certificate of Insurance (revised)?
I have contractors that do physical work on properties we have projects on, labs that we send samples to, rental places that send equipment to us, and other various types of vendors.

My Question is: Are certificate of liability insurance ONLY needed from those subcontractors that do work (or step foot) on any of our project sites?

    • ANSWER:
You should be discussing this with your agent, and your risk manager!!

      But . . .
      NO.

You should be requiring a certificate of insurance from every single business you do business with. That's because, even if it's off premises, YOU will be charged for any uninsured subcontractor, as if they are employees, on both your GL and WC policies.

So. You want your subs who do the physical work on properties to have general liability with completed operations coverage, workers comp, and commercial auto coverage (because their vehicles will be parked at your locations!). You don't want to end up covering claims that are their fault - or picking up their exposures under your GL and WC policies.

You want the labs you send samples to, to have workers comp and general liability coverage, and auto if they send their own courier to pick up the samples.

You'll want to make DARNED sure that the rental places have liability coverage, in case their equipment is faulty and causes a big massive problem at your location - and expect them to want to see yours, for almost the same reason.

The TYPE of vendor is going to determine the exact insurance requirement they need to have, to protect YOU, in your business dealings with them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What does the certificate holder mean on a certificate of liablity insurance form?

    • ANSWER:
That's the name of the person having insurance coverage.

  2. QUESTION:
If I am the certificate holder for a certificate of liability insurance, how does it help me?

    • ANSWER:
Sorry to previous posters but you're both wrong.

A certificate of insurance is proof of insurance (much like the ID card you keep in your car showing you have personal auto insurance except in this case the insured is not the one that has possession of it)

Certificates are usually issued to clients or other people your company does business with to show that you have insurance. The Certificate Holder is the person the certificate is made out to. I have several landscapers as clients and whenever they contract with a large business (like an apartment complex) the apartment will want to see proof of insurance so that if the landscaper causes damage while working they know that the landscaper's insurance will pay for it.

If you are just a certificate holder the main way it helps you is that it proves the party had insurance at the time it was issued and the certificate says they shall "endeavor" (fancy way of saying try) to let you know if the policy is cancelled for non-payment, however if they fail to let you know they aren't in any trouble.

Sometimes a certificate will name you as an additional insured. If you are an additional insured then if the landscaper from my above example is working for your business and a rock flies out from a lawn mower and hits a person and that person sues the landscaper and you then the landscaper's liability will extend to both of you. This is limited protection as it only applies to the actions of the actual insured (in this example the landscaper) and if you did anything to contribute to the accident then you are not covered. Additional insured are usually clients or lessors - if you lease your car then whoever your leasing it from is an additional insured on your auto policy since if you cause a wreck both you (for causing the wreck) and they (as owners of the car) could be sued - but your personal liability will pay for both. Commercial companies often charge an insured a fee to add someone as an additional insured.

  4. QUESTION:
Green Card holder needs insurance for pregnancy?
I am a US citizen, my wife has a green card. We just moved to Atlanta GA. I am looking for a job right now, we do not have health insurance yet. We are concerned that we cannot add my wife to possible employers insurance because she is 5 months pregnant right now.
    1. How can we have the baby without having to pay the full bill, and what if there are complications, hospital tries to take advantage with billing etc.
    2. Do we have medical aid options? How can we find the right resources to find the answers, and if I have not found a job yet or my coverage does not cover her b/c they would consider it a preexisting condition.
Please help. Last resort would be that we return home to South Africa but we run into problems with getting our baby a green card, and if anybody knows how Africa works it takes a long time and is expensive. We would have been here a long time ago if it had not been for the incompetency of the African system. Side note(They lost 1st immigration paperwork, 2nd attempt they notified me of my death certificate, and I am not making this up, 3rd attempt they finally got it right but we have to pay money on every attempt-i'm sure their system is messed and not fixed b/c they like to take peoples money)
Please help us avoid having to go back and deal with the headaches over there....

  5. QUESTION:
Does Policy Holder Need To Be Present When Adding A Named Driver (UK)?
    This is for UK insurance.

Does the person who holds the policy need to be there to speak on the phone when adding a named driver or can the prospective named driver add themselves to their fathers insurance policy without the need to involve the policy holder, I'm hoping to add myself to my dads insurance to drive his car as he is out of the country for 6 weeks out of every 8. Also would i be better contacting the insurance company to do this or should i speak to the broker through which the insurance was obtained. I do have his permission to do this by the way, its just with the time difference its hard for him to contact the insurers directly, I am also in possession of his certificate of insurance if this helps.

    Cheers people

  6. QUESTION:
Income tax question about check from insurance (mutual fund) company?
I received a stock certificate from an insurance company about 5 years ago. The insurance was a type of ownership by the participants and the company was sold and the value was distributed to the holders of the policies in the form of stock in the purchasing company. I am assuming it was a form of mutual fund that was disbursed. I recently sold the stock and have no idea of how to determine the cost basis of the stock. The current company can only tell me the value of the stock on the day it was issued (I don't know the date) but not how much I invested previously. As hard as I have tried I cannot find any information on the previous company or have any idea as to what to do. I certainly don't want to pay taxes on the entire amont I sold the stock for but don't know how to determine a cost basis and don't want to get audited and not have answers as to how I determined exactly how much tax I owe.

What should I do, how can I determine the cost basis to file my taxes?

    • ANSWER:
There should have been a K-1 filed on that in the year it happened and the basis of the stock should be in the K-1. Check with the CPA or Accounting firm who did the books for the company which was sold.......

      good luck

  7. QUESTION:
Am I insured to drive other cars as a named driver on my wife's insurance policy?
The certificate states that "The Insured and Spouse (Myself named)" are covered. But then under the section that talks about driving other cars the document says "Policy holder" can drive other cars with the permisson of the owner.....#!?@%&$@!

    • ANSWER:
Means you are covered to other ppl cars that give you permission. So what's the problem?

  8. QUESTION:
How do we transfer the ownership of life insurance policy into our name?
Many years ago my mom took out an insurance policy on me when I was a child. Although both parents were then married and remained so until her death, hers was the only name listed as policy holder. Since this was an asset, her interest in the policy in her name but covering me, should go to remaining heirs, namely myself and my dad but the insurace company wont change the name to reflect dad or myself or both as policy holder. They keep accepting out payments though and it looks as if a deceased woman has the policy. How do we go about getting them to change the name of the policy holder? Death certificates have already been sent to no avail.
We have been to an attorney who has sent multiple requests and documetnation and nothing has been changed. The form one person suggested we fill out cant be filled out by ALL parties because one is dead; thus the problem in the first place. Seemingly dad and I have already filled out a like form to no avail. Since mom owned only a certain amount of personal property individually and she was without a will ( I dont recall the amount Indiana's limit is) it wasnt necessary for the "estate" to go through probate for her share of belongings to be disbursed according to our attorney; it all went to dad. Therefore there is technically no trustee to the estate. If dad is considered to be the acting trustee then again, this should already have long since been cleared up. Another person suggested we ask why they wont change it; we have. Only the policy holder can do that and the NAMED policy holder is dead. Much like a dog chasing its tail we arent getting anywhere.

  9. QUESTION:
    V5C Sec 10 & Insurance Policy?
    1) I just bought a used car few days ago ... the dealer handed over to me V5C section 10 .. its blank should I write my details in it or just leave it blank .. as i need to send a copy of it for parking permit ...

    2) And will I be registered owner and keeper of the car upon getting the new V5C from dvla .. or was the dealer suppose to give me any other documents too as i only got section10 of v5c and a MOT certificate which was on previous owner's name ...

    3) Also Just got insurance policy, the policy holder name is my initials but it does has my full name in entitled to drive section ... should i return them for adding my full name to Policy holder name ?
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Section 10 is the "new keeper supplement", and should have your name and address on it. Write it in. The dealer advises DVLA that you are the new keeper and you should automatically receive a new V5 in your name shortly, probably in a couple of weeks.

The MoT certificate is not in any keeper's name, it relates to the vehicle and has no relationship to whoever the owner or keeper is; it goes with the vehicle. As long as it is valid you're fine. If what you're looking at has someone's name on it, it's probably the bill for the test, not the certificate . . .

I'd ring your insurers and point out what you've noticed about your documents. See what they say. In the meantime you'll have no problem as you're named as the driver.

  10. QUESTION:
    Any driver above 25 Insurance?
Hello !! I am looking for a statement/wording for insurance for any driver above the age of 25.
What does a insuance certificate says under who can drive the vehicle?
    Something like....
    Persons entitled to drive
Policy holder and any driver above the age of 25
Provided that the person driving holds a valid license.....
Can any one help me with proper statement (in case someone has the policy)

    • ANSWER:
My policy states that no person under the age of 25, or unmarried, may drive my vehicles. This gave me a discount on my premiums.

  11. QUESTION:
Can I get plates on a car that is not titled to me?
My father passed away without a will in Michigan. I live in New York. I tried to get as much done as I could when I was there but I didn't think it was necessary to be declared the executor of his estate. He had 2 motorcycles, a truck, and 0 in his checking account. So, not much of an estate.

I am my father's only child, and he divorced my mom almost 26 years ago, and then lived with his long term girlfriend for 24 years. I signed the 2 motorcycles over to his girlfriend without a problem. I had to take the titles to the Secretary of State and produce his death certificate and my birth certificate proving I am his daughter.

His truck however is a different story because there is a lien on it. He had only 3 payments left. Now I'm back in New York, and I kept the truck and was told that I could transfer it into my name with an affidavit, lien and all. In Michigan, your plates expire on your birthday each year which is July 25 for my father. Also, his insurance expires on that date as well.

I'm worried about any trouble I might have with the financing company because they told me that I could not get any information on his account without a letter signed form a probate judge declaring that I am handling all of my father's affairs. I then called probate and was told about the affidavit which would change the title to my name with the lien on it.

I've already sent a payment to the lien holder with my father's account number on it, but I'm not sure if they will accept it seeing as I've already reported him deceased.

Once the title is in my name, they have to give the information to me won't they? I'm so confused.

In the meantime, can I get my own plates on the truck and insure it even though my name isn't on the title yet?

    • ANSWER:
First I must say I am sorry about your loss.

No, you must be the registered owner to get a license plate. You must get the vehicle legally transferred to you.

You may want to try contacting your local court house. You most likely may need to be declared executor of your father's estate to proceed any further. You might want to try this in New York first to save yourself another trip to Michigan. However you may need to do this in Michigan.

Another alternative if you have decent credit is to get a signature loan in your name to pay off the balance ot the truck. This would get the lien removed from the title and then transferring the title should be the same procedure as was the motorcycles.

  12. QUESTION:
Super pocket bike made legal in PA...can it be done if i get a good bike?
If the bike has headlights, high beams and low beams and turn signals and a horn it should be able to be registered as a LSV low speed vehicle.

it can be registered for street use in many states. Most of our customers who have wanted to register these bikes for street use have been able to do so. You may need to add a license plate holder and/or rear-view mirrors, or other minor modifications. These items are inexpensive, can be found at most local scooter or motorcycle shops, and are easily attached via simple modifications.

All vehicle(s) come with a factory standard Certificate of Origin (Manufacturer Statement of Origin/MSO) which may be used for registration. We also include an official MSO for registration, with no extra charge for this service.

^^From what the site says ..the bigger super bike that i am getting, not to be confused with the smaller 50 cc models should be able to be street legal.

These are the rules in Florida...but i am in PA hopefully it is the same.

    0. Have a motorcycle licence ( for a 110cc it is classified as a motorcycle)- you could try to say to say its 50cc then you dont need one but the certificate will probably say its 110cc.. You will not be required to bring the bike in to the DMV or ever do a riding test for anyone.
    1. Headlights, taillights, sideview mirrors, signals, licence plate holder
    2. Helmet- if you plan on not buying insurance ( you will defenetally not want to pay the price of the bike each month just on insurance r u nuts!!)
If you dont use helmet, you must have insurance. Cops can pull u over if you ride on streets where there will defenetally be cops, local neihborhood driving you can do without helmet with no cops near.)
    3. Bring your factory standard Certificate of Origin (Manufacturer Statement of Origin/MSO) it is the important paperwork the bike comes with
    4. Bring your ID
    5. Bring $ it will cost .00 to put a Licence plate on it which includes the years stickers ( you will have to pay extra each year for new stickers)
    6. Bring another .75 to get the bike registered
7, Bring some more money of 7% extra of the original purchase price. ( so if bike was bought for 0.00 you will have to pay extra .00 at the DMV.)

FOLLOWING THESE STEPS WILL GUARANTEE YOU TO LEGALLY RIDE ON ANY of the X series Mid Bikes( with minor modifications) on PUBLIC ROAD ( except highway)

so a total of about at least 0.00 of registration fees, not including your modification fees is all thats required to ride the bike legally.

BTW: it may sound like im answering my own question but im not about to drop 700 bucks on a super bike and not be able to ride it.

    thanks.

In searching through Penndot's info, it looks like you might.
You will not spend 0, it will be more. You must at least change the tires.
It will be classed as a motorcycle. It must pass a motorcycle safety inspection. You must be insured and licensed to operate a motorcycle.
I'm sure the insurance will be an issue.

I still don't understand why people insist on running these toys on the street. You will do all that's needed to ride a motorcycle, pay extra to modify a new machine, and still not really have anything worth riding.
Why not buy a real motorcycle instead?
Easier. No extra mods. Repair support. Etc.

My question back to you is Does it meet the minimum height for vehicle to be used on the road? Chances are it does not. Most every pocket bike I have ever seen is only about 20" tall which means that it is about 8" too short to meet minimum height for almost every state with any type of standards for vehicles on the road. Truthfully-do you really want to take a chance on being run over by some Explorer at 35 or 45 mph? I know I do not.

  15. QUESTION:
Working permit applying for PR and coverage for paternity benefits?
Hi. I am a PR card holder in Toronto, on the process of getting divorced and getting the divorce certificate in about 4-6 weeks. My fiance (works and lives in Edmonton) and I are expecting a child, currently 4 months pregnant. My fiance is on a skilled worker visa (pays taxes and gets insurance through work). we want to get married asap as soon as I receive the divorce cert., I will sponsor him under spousal sponsorship right after applying for marriage certificate.

    Couple of Questions:
    1. Once we apply for permanent resident for my fiance how long is the wait?

    2. During this time chances are, I maybe having the baby, will he be eligible for paternity?

    3. And while on paternity, we are also hoping that by the end of paternity the PR application may have arrived.

I wanted to allocate for the lenght of all applications needed, my fiance really wants to step up on his role as father and bond with baby before and after birth.

Please let me know if there is anything else I needed to know that surrounds this matter. Thank you.
I actually found out from CRA that as long as you are paying taxes or cpp or ei (which my fiance is) are automatically taken off your pay cheque then you are eligible to take paternity because you are paying your share. It also doesn't matter whether or not your are on student visa, work permit, pr card holder you are still able to take paternity even if not married as long as you are the biological parent.

Furthermore, we are not trying to manipulate or scam the system, this is why I have posted these questions to have a good understanding of the process and to do it the proper way.

    • ANSWER:
Your fiance will not be eligible for EI Paternity benefits as he is neither a citizen or PR of Canada. In order to sponsor him, either before or after you marry, you will have to prove that you can provide financially for him in the time it takes for him to receive status. He will not be able to work, as he is here under the skilled worker visa program and cannot work for anyone other than the employer he has (and can do so only under this type of visa).

There is no easy way for him to obtain PR status. Immigration is highly suspicious of those under skilled worker visas getting Canadian residents pregnant to stay in the country. It is highly probable that your fiance will have to return to his home country when his skilled worker visa expires and will have to start the sponsorship from his home country.

It could take several years for him to obtain PR status through your sponsorship.

  16. QUESTION:
    Is this a Real Tax?
    Moving Taxe?
If you have your out-of-state title, you'll need:
    Your out-of -state title
    Proof of insurance i n owner's name
A safety inspection certificate from an inspection station in Texas
Your lien holders name and address (if this applies)

If you DON'T have your title, you'll need:
Your current registration from previous state
Proof of insurance in owner's name
A safety inspection certificate from an inspection station in Texas
Your lien holders name and address (if this applies)
    FEES: -title application
    -new resident Registration
fees vary based on vehicle year, type, and or weight

    • ANSWER:
I am a licensed car dealer in Texas......here is what it is. It isn't really a "moving tax". You will have to get your car registered and inspected in Texas. You will first get a greensheet and inspection sticker from your local gas station. Then you take it down to the tax office and register the car in Texas. They do charge a fee to transfer it to Texas. You don't pay any new sales tax. You can even do a "registration purposes only" option which allows you to register the car in Texas with your greensheet without surrendering your title. The is pretty much bogus, but everything else is normal. There is a way around the though.......you can "give" the car to someone (like use your middle name instead of your first name), make it look like a transfer is taking place......use your greensheet and do a full title transfer like you gave it away. Then you will only pay the plus your license fees.

  17. QUESTION:
Is this Bank red tape gone mad?
I have banked with the same small market town branch of one of the UK's biggest banks for the last 15 years, and am known to the senior tellers who greet me by name when i go in there. Today i went in to the branch with my wife to carry out a simple - i thought - procedure. To change my own current account from my own name only over to a joint one with my wife of the last 30 years included as joint account holder. I was warned that my wife would need to take in identification so we took along our marriage certificate, my wife's photo id bus pass and her passport (which expired 3 years ago and which due to health reasons she will not be renewing.

The customer service (?) officer told us that these items were not acceptable as id. Did my wife have a photo card driving licence? NO, she has never driven. Has she got a current passport, no only the expired one as due to her health she will not be travelling abroad again. Any letter from a government department confirming her eligibility to any kind of benefits, no we do not claim benefits of any kind.

Our joint council tax bill would be acceptable to confirm that she lives where we say she lives but there is nothing else we have that they accept as proof of her ID. Oh, we have her Doctors/Hospital registration cards. No good, they are only acceptable for an under 18 year old. Well we have her national insurance card - you guessed it, no that is not an acceptable proof of her ID unless she is under 18.

We have a letter from the department of work and pensions telling her that she is entitled to x amount state pension (we have deferred claiming as i am still working). Bingo, that will do. Oops, no it wont, it has to be less than 4 months old.

Now by this time i am very hot under the collar as you will imagine, and even more so when the lady explained that since the twin towers terrorist disaster security precautions have had to be tightened up!

Can any one out there explain to me just how by any logic at all anti terrorist measures have any thing what so ever to do with adding my wife, a lady of mature years [who has not changed her identity since her passport expired] to my bank account as a joint holder? I for one cannot see any reason what so ever how the one affects the other!

Also, how come a letter from DWP confirming her elegibility to a pension proves her ID when a passport with her photo in it - despite expiring 3 years ago - and a current photo id Concessionary over 60's bus pass issued by our local authority does not confirm her ID ?

Am i a voice in the wilderness thinking this is bank beaurocracy at it's most idiotic level?

    • ANSWER:
Colin, you are not a voice in the wilderness and I am surprised at the comments already posted to you.I think that due to money laundering and political correctness the UK has lost its way in the systems department. I have a much worse tale to tell than yours but I will not bore you with it here. You are on my network list,so perhaps I can advise you privately. I think you should complain to the ombudsman. At least you should get a minimum of £100 for the discourtesy and stupidity of the bank staff. Maybe, if you remind them that your taxes are keeping them afloat, they will take a more humble approach.

My final solution was to escape to Switzerland where they have centuries old banking traditions that serve the customer. (Even with black money). The UK is well and truly going down the toilet with the banks first into the soil pipe. (Followed by the previous respondents).

  18. QUESTION:
the mother inlaw, the husband and my child?
im getting worried now can my mother in law make me return to a country which i am not a citizen or green card holder (anymore) with my daughter who is a british citizen like me. my husband does not care but for him she is sending me evil emails saying i got preg on purpose etc. it is not my husband but because he cant stand up to his mom who still treats him like he can't think for himself and is still treats him like she is married more to him than me. i left and returned to the uk because of the way my husband treated me and because my mil didn't really like me all that much and i realised that if i had my bby in the usa because my mil is so insecure i would never see my family again, i think her plan was my conidtional greencard ran out in december 2009 and my husband made sure that we had nothing in joints name's so we had no evidence to renew the greencard i think their plan was to get me deported from the country and take my child away from me. but i left the usa in june surrendered the greencard in august had my baby in october 7 weeks early. my mil has not sent a card or a gift to the baby and my husband has not been in touch to see how we are but my mil seems to think i have to return to the usa with her grandchild because her dad is an american. if my daughters dad cared so much about the baby or even me don,t you think he would be here. i have told my mil that she can see her grandchild but she will have to get on plane to do so i have said i will send pics keep her up todate with her progress but this does not seem to be good enough for her, she asked for my daughters birth certificate so she get a social security number and put her on her dad work medical insurance ( who was threatening to tke me off because he didn,t like have to pay for it) im not going to send her anything but someone said under the hague convention i could have to take her to the usa, but my daughter is not a us citizen nor a dual national is there anything i can do to protect my daughter

    • ANSWER:
You state that your mother in law planned to get you deported and now you fear that she plans to force you to return. Can you see the contradiction here? Far more likely is that she is trying to find a way to get your daughter to the US and away from you. Believe me, there are many cases every year of parents absconding with a child who never comes back and the US is one of the places they go to. Without a divorce and custody order, it will not even be considered a kidnapping.

The story of medical insurance is total nonsense, of course you can see straight through that. Not only would US medical insurance not be useful in the UK but there is no need for a social security number. Most American children don't get one of these until they are older and all are insured at birth.

No, her agenda is to get your daughter a US passport. This is something you need to be very alert to as she will not be able to kidnap your daughter without a passport.

Unfortunately, getting an American passport will not be hard. Your husband will easily be able to get a certified copy of the birth certificate if he has her name and a date of birth. Then he can write up an affidavit stating that you are out of the country, go in with a baby of a similar age to a passport office and it will be done.

I recommend you get in touch with the US Embassy in London and alert them to a possible fraudulent application. This will put a block on their database so that no passport can be issued to your child at any location.

  19. QUESTION:
    I have several legal questions?
My boyfriend and I were together 7 years in the state of PA. We were engaged and to be married this year. He died suddenly and unexpectedly on Jan 19 of this year. He had finaced a truck in his name and with a friend/boss. He paid the truck in full of 2010 and his friend was supposed to be taken off the title as lien holder. He has not and is now claiming the truck as his. Is there anything I can do to pursue this? I need his title so that I can go on with things. The bill, insurance and registration were all in his name. I also several death certificates in my possession. What can I do?
There are no family members that I know of since he's been on his own since a teenager. He really doesnt have any assests except for his truck and whatever we had in the house. There is no one handling an estate for me, I am alone on this. I was hoping I had some rights, even one, since we had been together since 2003 in PA.
David had no one is his life for many years except for me.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Can i sell a phone i got from Asurion cell phone insurance company on eBay b/c i found my "lost phone"?
i have Sprint service and i have insurance on my plan. I filed a claim with the insurance because i thought i had had my phone taken. The claim went through and they charged me . A day later, a cabbie calls me and tells me i left my phone in his car. I call asurion and try to cancel the claim, before they mail me the phone, and they tell me that its binding and that i will still get the phone and i will still be charged. I want to know if i can sell this refurbished phone on ebay w/o giving the potential buyer or I any issues??

    • ANSWER:
Ya you can just remove the SIM card and Sell it as A Sprint phone. The sim card is what stores all the info.So if you buy a new phone and want the same stuff just replace or remove the sim card.

  2. QUESTION:
What Happens If The Cell Phone Insurance Company Dose Not Have My Phone In Stock?
I Have Verizon Wireless. And The Insurance Company Is Called Asurion. When They Replace A Phone They Have None Of Do They Give You The Next One? For Example..... I Have The enV. When They Replace My Broken Phone Will They Give Me The enV2?

    • ANSWER:
No, they will not. They will replace it with a phone that has an equal or lesser retail value. The enV2's retail price is slightly higher than that of the original enV. You will get a cheaper phone, not the enV2. Also, they still have the original enV in stock at Asurion.

  3. QUESTION:
what is the physical address of the Asurion Insurance Co. used by the Cricket cell phone company?

    • ANSWER:
FYI, they aren't an insurance company. They aren't filed with AM Best. I'm not quite sure what they are, but here's the info:

      http://www.asurion.com/

      Asurion
      648 Grassmere Park Dr.
      Suite 300
      Nashville, TN 37211

      Attn: Customer Satisfaction

      E-mail: customersatisfaction@asurion.com

  4. QUESTION:
Alternative Cell Phone Insurance for Verizon, I HATE Asurion!?
Please tell me there is another insurance company I can use with my Verizon Cell phone! Asurion is causing nothing but problems with me. I get a refurbished phone that breaks in HALF 2 weeks after I get it! and they dont cover it because they only cover body damage 1 week. So I buy a new phone & have to replace it, well the one they give me screws up so I try to replace it again & they send me one that is registered to someone else! So then they send me the wrong phone! I'm then told I can send back the other 2 phones & give them a tracking number & they will send me the right phone right away. So I do that & then I am told they can't send it out until they recieve the phones! I'm told they will send it out as soon as they get them! A week goes by & no phone! So I call them & they say ok they will send me another phone after I'm on hold for FOREVER! So now I have the phone and once again it is the WRONG phone!! Give me a break!

SO please please tell me I can go with another company!

    • ANSWER:
One of the many reasons I loath Verizon. Sadly I am pretty sure they are the only company that handles their insurance claims.

I would call Verizon directly and bitch like none other and have them send you a brand new phone directly from their warehouse for the inconvenience.

If they refuse then tell them you are going to file a small claims lawsuit with them and actually do it. Most cities or county's only charge like to file and you do not even need a lawyer present on your behalf. When it's in the system they mail out the claim to Verizon and instead of paying for their lawyers to fly out to your cities Court House they will pretty much bend over backwards to resolve the issue with you.

  5. QUESTION:
Question regarding Asurion cell phone Insurance?
From my understanding if you have lost your phone, they will simply send you a replacement after paying the deductible but if your phone has say, a cracked screen, and it needs to be replaced, you pay the deductible, are sent a replacement and then they require that you send the damaged phone back (or they will charge you an additional fee for not returning it). My question is why not tell them the phone is lost if it has been damaged (other than the whole dishonosty thing and possible insurance fraud)? I've read a lot of stories online of people getting charged for not returning the defective phone even though they had. I work for a cell phone company and I know there are these kind of "loopholes", so I'm just curious. I know I'd rather keep the phone with a cracked screen to just have around than going through the trouble of sending it back and worry about being charged

  6. QUESTION:
What phones do Asurion have that are worth the same amount of the LG Scoop? I am a Verizon customer.?
My cellphone screen is cracked and when I told Alltel they said that I could by a new LG Scoop for 230 bucks. So I read on Y!A that Asurion (my cell insurance company) will give you a phone that is worth the same amount or less. If Verizon and Alltel have merged then I should get a Verizon phone worth 230 bucks.

    • ANSWER:
you will still get your scoop if they have it in stock. They will give a alltel phn until they no longer have alltel phn's instock. no scoop then a banter(265).. And they don't provide phns by value, only by features.. make sense right? like the scoop now is 0 but lets say in a year or so that phn will only be like or something..

  7. QUESTION:
Why delivery service does the cell phone replacement company Asurion use??
I broke my T-Mobile Sidekick ID. I took it to the T-Mobile store to get it fixed, but they took one look at the phone and said that the problem was unable to be fixed, and that i would have to get a new phone. I had insurance so the man told me to call a number, for a phone replacement company. I did. I have heard that Asurion uses DHL, does anyone know if that is true or not? and if yes, it is true, is it also true that DHL delivery is not very good, and does not deliver on time?
They also told me that it would arrive tomorrow.

  8. QUESTION:
Asurion Cell Phone Insurance for Verizon Chocolate.. 10 Points! Thanks?
    Hi,
I have the Original Verizon Chocolate. Ive been having problems with it so i called asurion and got a replacement. This replacement is horrible and not working. I spoke with a representative, and he said he would send me an upgraded version of this phone BRAND NEW. I told him i would call the company back because i didnt know if it is a good idea. What phone would they send me? Would they send me the new chocolate (not the chocolate 3, the second chocolate Verizon came out with)? Because i would like to receive a phone i actually like since im paying for the service. I would just like a slide phone...

    Thank u!

    • ANSWER:
Ask them what the upgraded version is. Make the rep be specific, and give you the model number. Stay on the line until they give you what you want to know. And if they stonewall you with "I don't know" say, "ok, I understand that you don't have that information. I need to speak to your supervisor or the person that can answer my question." I was on the phone with them for 6 HOURS once getting a problem resolved... But I got what I needed.

  9. QUESTION:
    Cell Phone Insurance?
My sister recently upgraded on Verizon Wireless to a Palm Centro, but when we got it online, we didn't want to pay for insurance. We changed our minds a few days ago, however, but when we called Verizon, they said that the phone was 19 days old, and that we could only purchase insurance up to 15 days after purchasing a new phone. My sister desperately needs the insurance, so I was wondering if anybody knows of a different third-party insurance company besides Asurion that will offer protection on damage on loss?
Yes, my father went it to the Verizon Store. The sales clerk said there was nothing they could do: it's a third party company and that's their policy. So we called Asurion, and they said, "That's just out policy. Sorry." I did search Google, but I only found SquareTrade Warranties, which does not cover loss.

    • ANSWER:
Why does she all the sudden desperately need the insurance? Sounds like she broke the phone or something, but if she didn't, Verizon has a 30 day money back guarantee. tell her to take the phone back. or try to trade it in before the 30 days. If they let her, tell her to choose another phone and then get the insurance plan on it.

      Satisfaction Guarantee
You may terminate service for any reason within 30 days of activation. If you purchased equipment from us at a promotional price at the time of activation, you must return that equipment to avoid being assessed a 5 Early Termination Fee. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within 3 days of activation.

  10. QUESTION:
    Cell phone insurance needed?
I run an office with ten cell lines. Every one has a rather expensive phone that the company paid for. As it turns out nobody has insurance on their very expensive phones. Asurion will not issue insurance for a phone once fifteen days have elapsed since purchase. Does anyone know of another company that will insure cell phones?
Thank Monoxide. Now that the horse has long since run off I will make sure to close that barn door.

    Mandy, enjoy your two points.

    • ANSWER:
If your office owns the phones, and you have insurance on the office to cover your Business Contents and Possessions- you may just already have the coverage you need- contact your agent ask them about it before you decide to spend more money on insurance you may not need.

  11. QUESTION:
When I call Asurion(insurance), they ask me what addresses i've been associated with. What do they mean?
Okay so i'm having problems with my phone, so i called Asurion, which is the insurance company that covers my cell phone. When they tried to do some verification, they asked me if i've ever been associated with these addresses. They gave me four addresses, and an option of none of the above. Since i did not know of any of the addresses, I said none of the above. And i'm assuming i was wrong because they terminated the call and said I would get a call back from a supervisor within 24 hours...this has happened several times. Can anyone explain why!!! Thank you
Are they asking if i've ever lived in any of these addresses? Or been to them?

    • ANSWER:
You cell number may have been previously assigned to someone else. So the previous addresses are coming up in the records for that number. Or possibly, they may have had another customer with your same name.

Go to the place where you got the phone and tell them you want the problem resolved. If they don't satisfy your problem, call the manufacturer of the phone. If this doesn't work file a complaint with the FCC.

  12. QUESTION:
Will Asurion give me a new phone?
So I broke my Samsung Juke Verizon Wireless cell phone. I have the Asurion insurance thing. So I take my phone up to Verizon and tell me all I can do is call the insurance company that I pay them for. (Asurion)
So, my question is, will they send me a new Juke? BECAUSE THERES NO ******* WAY I'M TAKING SOME USED PIECE OF CRAP OR A KNOCK-OFF. What can I do. Beg them for a new one when my mom calls?

    • ANSWER:
yes they will give you a NEW juke...

make some calls to your verizon around your area and ask them if they have the juke in stock so you don't have to wait for your replacement

  13. QUESTION:
    Question about a new phone?
So I just received my new Samsung Juke cell phone in the mail through the Insurance company Asurion. However, after taking it out of the box, I turned it on for less than a minute just to see if it came on. But, I was reading the Instruction Manual from Asurion and it said:
    START-UP INSTRUCTIONS
    1. CHARGE YOUR BATTERY
IMPORTANT: Failure to initially charge your battery for a full 12 hours may lead to improper phone function or poor battery life.

Immediately after reading this I went and plugged my new phone into the wall.

Could I have damaged my new phone? (Verizon Wireless)

    • ANSWER:
no you didn't ruin the phone, its actually better if you run the battery down before you first charge it.

A few days ago i was using my phone, and then it slipped out of my hand. when i picked it up it had a few scratches. i spent 3 hours obsessing over the scratches, trying to figure out how to get rid of them. every time i looked at my phone all i could see was those scratches. Im gonna get to the point now. I decided that i couldnt live with those scratches on my phone. i knew for a fact that we got it insured when we bought it. so i took it outside and smashed the screen on the rock. told my mom i dropped it. called asurion (phone insurance company) so that i could exchange it for a new one. turns out that they dont carry droids. so they gave me a much cheaper smart phone, which is similar to my droid, and i like it, but in the end i practically wasted 0 of my moms money. my concious is killing me.i feel so bad that i let my obsession get the best of me. im too afraid to ask for help for my ocd right now (although im thinking about doing it). tell me am i a horrible person for doing what i did? should i break down and get help?or should i just leave this behind me and try to work through it?

    • ANSWER:
Okay well you can't be too sure about anything until you get yourself checked out by a doctor. Personally I don't think you have an OCD because everyone has atleast one trait about themselves that makes them OCD. My best friend would probably do something like you did as he is very antsy about his iPhone and wants it to be in the best condition at all times. Are you going to feel guilty? Yes. Next time I wouldn't worry about a few scratches. They are going to get there anyways with eventual use and there is nothing you can do about it. If you take good care of your things then you shouldn't worry about it. And you are honestly being too quick in labeling yourself of what you might have. Unless you notice some very unnatural disturbances about yourself then I shouldn't see why you worry about these things. I personally think you are normal person. And the social anxiety disorder? Again too quick in labeling yourself. You are probably just shy around your peers and other people. Some are more naturally shy than others. Don't worry about it. If you socialize, make some close friends, then you will realize that there is nothing to be anxious about. Just be yourself, it's what everybody would want. Hope this helps and take care.

  15. QUESTION:
Have you ever been so tired of being poor...?
...that you scream at yourself in your head? I hate being poor. I rely on my biological father to buy me a cell phone and I can't even do that. Now he's being a cheap-ass. He won't buy me a BlackBerry Tour because the phone I have now that he gave me isn't old enough to get replaced. And what's the number to Asurion. That's the insurance company that insures my cell phone. I'm gonna call them. My phone sure as hell is old enough to be covered by the insurance. My BlackBerry Curve broke within 1 1/2 months and I got a new one FREE! He is so fake.

    • ANSWER:
I don't get your problem... Poor means not being able to even afford a cell phone.

  16. QUESTION:
    Anyone with Progressive?
So, I'm thinking about switching to Progressive for my car insurance. I'm paying wayyyy to much with my current one.

The question I'm asking is, how good is Progressive Roadside Assitance?

I actually work for Asurion Roadside Assistance, and according to what the Progressive agent told me, their RA is better than Asurion (from what I gathered)

(the RA company I work for is through leading Cell-phone companies; T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc...)

Curious if anyone has it? Experience with it? Anything would help.

    • ANSWER:
I am not sure about Progressive Auto Insurance but I was with State Farm Ins. and I was getting soaked too. I was with them for 20 yrs till I got feed up so I switched to AIG and ended up saving about 0 amonth. There offers are extremely generous too. even there RA's.
      I hope I helped.

  17. QUESTION:
    Who else DESPISES Verizon Wireless?
Over the weekend, I accidently dropped my phone into my coffee. OOPS! (I know, I am an idiot, but it was an ACCIDENT!) SOOO, I pay for insurance on my phone, so I called Asurion and filed a claim. Well, this happened Saturday morning (early) and they werent going to have my new phone to me until Wednesday (tomorrow). I am one of those people who are lost without their cell phone, so i was very worried how I was going to communicate with the rest of the world until then. I called Verizon about me getting a loaner phone, which i have heard of so many people getting from Verizon and other cell phone companies. Well, come to find out, Verizon does NOT loan phones out, you are just SOL until you get a new one, or find another Verizon phone to use in the meantime. So, i was pissed. I did not know anyone who had a verizon phone I could use. BUT, believe it or not, i called my local Verizon and they DID loan me a phone. Which is funny, cuz Verizon's Customer Service knew nothing of it
To make things worse - my phone that got submerged in hot coffee, which i thought was fried, starting working today! Barely, but it is. I'm glad cuz now I can get my pics and contacts off it.
Wait - WHAT? Did I hear you say "REFURBISHED"??? So I'm not even getting a NEW phone? That is a bunch of BS!! I assumed that they would be sending me a new phone, not a rebuilt one! I hope you are mistaken...

    • ANSWER:
No it is definitely refurbished but it doesn't necessarily mean it's rebuilt. It could be a phone that someone opened and chose not to keep anymore

  18. QUESTION:
    Cell Phone Insurance?
    So i lost my phone
I went to verizon and they tried to charge me 50$ for a new phone.
But they saw I had insurance and told me to call the insurance people.
So the the company [asurion] is charging me 65$ for a phone!
So shouldn't I jus go back to verzion and get a phone for 50$???
Whats the point of having insurance on a phone and paying extra money for insurance when its 50-65$ either way???

    • ANSWER:
I work for Verizon, so I am not sure who you talked to...we don't charge to replace the phones ourselves, and the insurance company has a deductible...I think you need to go into a different store and talk to someone else, it seems like whatever store you went into just wanted your money.

I've never heard of that, and I'm sorry that someone did that to you. We've NEVER charged for that kind of thing, because we can't replace lost/stolen phones in store, we have to go through insurance.

Ce Life Insurance Courses

To use an analogy, in a life insurance policy, the beneficiary has no "status" until the death of the named insured. In an annuity, the beneficiary has no "status" until the death of the annuitant. Similarly, the beneficiary of an annuity has no control of the policy and has no say in the management of the policy. The annuitant benefits from an annuity only when the annuitant dies.

The beneficiary can be either an individual, or a trust, corporation or partnership. There does not have to be any relationship between the beneficiary and the annuitant - indeed, they could conceivably be (but highly unlikely) total strangers. The application form used for an annuity allows the owner to state multiple beneficiaries, and to designate the percentage of each beneficiary if so desired.

Frequently, one spouse would be the owner of the contract, and the other spouse would be the beneficiary. With some companies, co-ownership is allowed, thereby allowing both spouses to be owners. They can be quite valuable in case the annuitant dies as the annuity proceeds would not go to a beneficiary as long as one of the spouses was still alive.

Generally, a single person (or widow or widower) will designate themselves as the owner of the contract and also the annuitant, naming another party as the beneficiary (such as a church, charity, etc.). By doing this, the person has complete control over the investment during their lifetime, and upon their death, the annuity proceeds will automatically pass to the intended heir.

Residents of the Dominican Republic, especially the impoverished ones, have long viewed the United States and especially New York City as a land of limitless wealth. All you have to do is live there for a few years, and you too will be wealthy.

This erroneous vision was fostered in the 1980s with the crack epidemic centered in Washington Heights, an area located north of New York City and predominantly populated by Dominican immigrants. Thousands of dollars in cash were sent back to the families, who still lived in the Dominican Republic.

Though the days of easy money have passed, the Dominican poor still believe that, if only family member can reach the U.S. and remain for a few years, he or she could bring the entire family remaining in the Dominican Republic out of poverty. Thus, the Dominican Republic is the largest exporter of immigrants to the New York City schools. Dominican immigrants now comprise ten percent of the 1.1 million students in the New York City schools.

These young New York City schools immigrants face particularly difficult problems as they attempt to acclimate into American society. They face the pressures to integrate at school, while facing the pressures to remain the same at home. Parents too face challenges with the New York City schools.

The first problem is culture shock. In the Dominican Republic, children always must defer to their elders and hold their tongues, having no way to express their own feelings or opinions. In contrast, children quickly learn in the New York City schools that American children are vital members of society, like any adult. They realize that adults care what they think. They become more outspoken both at school and at home, finding the social freedoms compelling and liberating.

Parents feel themselves losing control of their children, who are shedding their cultural restrictions. They view New York City schools children as arrogant and flamboyant, with no respect for their elders. Such contrasting expectations between children and parents cause stress at home. Of course, many parents blame the New York City schools for their children adopting these attributes, where they did not wish to send their children anyway.

The Dominican immigrant home environment is not always conducive to learning. For impoverished families in the Dominican Republic, education is not a priority, as it is with the wealthy families there. Though early schooling is free for children, it is seen as a costly endeavor for families just trying to make ends meet. Clothing for school, meals, school supplies, books, and transportation are luxuries for such families. According to the World Bank, 13 percent of children ages 7-14 work outside the home, rather than attend school. According to Unicef, 16 percent of children ages 10-17 are illiterate. Usually, one or both parents have little or no education, due to less long-term educational exposure for children of poorer families. Is it any wonder they may resent the mandatory law for their children to attend the New York City schools?

Though cultural differences present a major obstacle, language is the biggest difficulty for these immigrant children in the New York City schools. According to Robert Mercedes, Principal of Middle School 390 in the Bronx and President of the Association of Dominican-American Supervisors and Administrators, Dominican children arrive at the New York City schools lacking the basic native-language skills of the Dominican Republic. This makes transitioning them into the English language even more difficult.

They feel like outsiders in the New York City schools. They are in a language and cultural isolation. They are generally dumped into bilingual classes at low-income schools, and feel more of a burden to the New York City schools than an equal to the other students. The victim mentality takes over for many of these youth, who separate themselves into close-knit ethnic groups. They are especially vulnerable to street gang recruitment, which pervades the areas around the ghetto-like atmosphere of some of the New York City schools they attend.

On one side, the New York City schools are a haven of new opportunities for the Dominican children and their parents. Yet, these same opportunities can be the downfall of the immigrant family values and the children, as well. It is a dual-edged sword, afflicted with stressful difficulties and insurmountable obstacles for many.

Prior to the 1970s, annuities were marketed by traditional insurance agents, most of whom were career agents. During the 19970s and early 1980s, stockbrokers increased their distribution of annuities, followed by growth in brokerage general agency distribution, followed by growth by banks marketing annuities. In today's market, all marketing and distribution systems are doing well.

A TYPICAL ANNUITY OWNER

The Gallup Organization surveyed over 1,000 nonqualified annuity owners in 2004 for the Committee of Annuity Insurers - an organization of life insurance companies that issue annuities. Gallup identified the nonqualified annuity-owners by several characteristics3:

1. Interestingly, the average of these annuity owners was 65.
2. 52% of these annuity owners were male, 48% female.
3. 63% of annuity owners of these contracts were married, 20% were widowed.
4. Of owners of nonqualified annuities, 56% were retired, 38% were employed (either full-time of part-time).
5. 55% of owners had "moderate" household income, described as between ,000 and ,999. 62% had total annual household incomes under ,000.
6. 85% of the owners purchased that first annuity when they were less than 65 years old. Average age at which owners purchased their first annuity was 50.

PREMIUM PAYMENTS

The specific premium amount depends on several factors, primarily the length of the guaranteed benefit payment period. The "Straight life" (discussed later) annuity offers maximum income per dollar of outlay. Obviously, the reason for this is that some annuitants will die prematurely, or in the early part of the annuitization, thereby restricting the total amount of payout. Period certain and refund options provide less income per dollar of outlay, as the element of mortality does not enter the equation.

This is a hard one to do in writing, but I'll try :-) If you find it hard to follow, look for the video version, and that should help.

First of all, when you're making a "spiral" arch, it is really really important that all of the balloons are properly sized. Incorrectly sized balloons can really ruin the look of the arch. The actual balloon size is relative to the size of balloons you are using and the size of the arch, but it's critical that all the balloons in the arch are the same size (Until you get into advanced shaping techniques, but that's another topic).

Unless your arch is framed, you're probably using helium. The easiest way to wrap the balloons onto the fishing line, or dacron arch line, is by stretching the line between two chairs. Then you can wrap the balloons onto the taught line. Make sure that it's well secured, but with a little bit of slack. As it grows, the lift will fight against you a bit.

Most "spiral" arches are created using a four- pack of balloons. You make that by creating two duplets of balloons, (two balloons tied together by their necks), and twisting them together.

So, take the four balloons, and arrange them in the color pattern that you are trying to create. Make sure to continue the same order throughout the arch.

Wedge the string between two of the balloon in the quad. Either wrap the balloons with the string to secure, or rotate the two balloons that are straddling the string around each other.

Take the next quad, line it up in the right place and repeat the procedure.

Keep repeating the same steps, consistently rotating either to the right or to the left. You will notice that there is a sweet spot where the balloons are just offset and seem to nestle in. Also, it's best if you try not to drag the balloons across the line as that may result in friction tears. After about four clusters you will see the pattern emerging.

To finish it off, tie each side to an anchor. There will be a lot of lift, so be sure that they are heavy enough! An easy to find anchor is a 2.5 gallon water bottle, just tie on to the handle, wrap it with some pretty paper, and you're ready to go.

Professional Disability Insurance

What It Is

So-called professional disability income insurance can address a combination of business and personal needs since the professional person's work is the source of income that pays for both business and personal expenses. For insurance purposes, professional DI policies are those written for people in certain occupations that generate incomes over 0,000 annually. Insurers write professional policies for individuals who need income replacement in the range of ,000 to ,000 per month. Since not every insurance company is willing to provide monthly benefits in these amounts, you will want to locate those that do in order to serve this market.

Income, however, is not the only characteristic that defines this group. Eligibility is generally restricted to professionals who are independent and self-employed, but highly compensated executive employees might also be considered. Typical occupations acceptable for professional DI insurance includes physicians and other health professionals such as dentists, optometrists, psychiatrists and pharmacists; lawyers: accountants; engineers; architects; and some executives, generally PhDs or those who are otherwise highly educated. This is just a sampling of eligible occupations. The companies you represent provide a complete list of occupations they will consider for professional DI policies.

Aside from the large dollar benefits involved, professional DI policies operate essentially like any other individual policy. As indicated in an earlier chapter, professionals are eligible for the most liberal benefits of any occupational group. Chapter Eight of this text discusses the various occupational classes more fully. Because of the high incomes involved, one of the major differences between writing professional DI policies and others is that social insurance benefits are not large enough in comparison to actual earnings to interfere with the income replacement calculations and cause over insurance problems.

The Key to the Professional's Livelihood

Reading the list of typical professional occupations above, you can see that these are people who provide vital services for society and who are frequently self-employed. Performing these services is the key to the professional person's livelihood. The inability to earn income by performing these services affects not only personal finances, but also the very life of the business itself since it is those services that keep the business operating.

Consider, for example, a self-employed physician, operating without partners and employing a small staff. If this individual is unable to work, first of all, no income is generated to pay for personal expenses. Second, no income is generated to continue the medical practice by paying ongoing business expenses, including a substitute physician to see the disabled doctor's patients. If a medical practice shuts down temporarily, patients must look elsewhere for services and there's no guarantee they will return even if the disabled physician recovers. The physician is likely to suffer a double loss: current loss of income and loss of the business he or she might have spent years building. There is no substitute for disability insurance to overcome these problems. Later you'll also learn about some specialized disability policies that address ways to keep a business intact during the disability of someone whose active working presence is key to the business.

  2. QUESTION:
what is an easy online course for CE credits for P&C Insurance License renewal?

    • ANSWER:
I agree - WebCE is the best that I have found also. Not only for ease, but for price also.

  3. QUESTION:
How do I become a CISR or CIC Insurance Agent in Oregon?
I have been an agent in Oregon for 6 years and would like to receive some CE and some type of accreditation. Are there any courses that do not require a PIA membership?

    • ANSWER:
Both cisr and cic ce programs are available through "The National Alliance for Insurance Education". Try visiting their website: www.thenationalalliance.com

  4. QUESTION:
How do you have a course taught within a company for insurance adjusters accredited?
By accredited I mean the class should count towards Continuing Education (CE) credits.
This is for the state of Illinois.

    • ANSWER:
The requirements are going to vary by state. Typically the state insurance department is going to require a description of the method of study (online, self study, classroom), a course outline, class time allocations, a copy of the course materials you plan to use and a resume for each instructor (teaching and or industry experience).

The subject matter will have to be mostly generic in nature. You can bet a company specific adjuster's procedure manual dressed up as a CE class will not be approved.

As you don't mention what state you are in here is a link to all of the State Insurance Departments:

      http://www.naic.org/state_web_map.htm

  5. QUESTION:
Do people who are attracted to Appraisal, know the Liabilities, or Client Pressures, or just think it is easy?
Most people in recent years that have been attracted to Apprasial have been so motivated by either stories heard at coctail parties about how much easy money can be made, or told so by the likes of the Prep Schools who cram test answers.

Few have any real academic education in real estate or appraisal, finance, econocmic, etc. Most have no transferrable skill-sets, many do not even know the finger positions on a keyboard.

Most who become licensed, never take a meaningful 40-hours real course, only CE seminars after they are in, and never really learn how to do a real appraisal, only know the forms program they were shown and how to keep Red Flags out of the report.

That worked well when the market was rising and covering all sins. Now that the markets are declining, what will happen to them besides being Black Listed and sued? Most will go back to what they were doing. I hope they keep their insurance in place too. If not and they get sued 3+ years from now, they will cry.

You answered your own question! 10 points!
